Colonel Becky M. Beers is the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Department of the Air Force, comprised of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Space Force. She assists the Chief Information Security Officer in development of strategies and policies for governance, risk, and compliance to measure and manage Department of the Air Force enterprise cyber risk. She directs creation and execution of initiatives for the cybersecurity of industrial control and weapons systems. Colonel Beers educates and influences Air Force cyber & non-cyber personnel to understand risks and mitigations in a cyber environment. She reviews cyberspace doctrine, concepts, requirements development, and fielding to meet enterprise-wide operational needs.
Colonel Beers attended the University of Southern California, receiving her commission from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. As a Cyberspace Operations Officer, she has served in a variety of roles at the squadron, group, and NAF levels in addition to the Joint Staff. Colonel Beers also has previously led a group detachment, communications squadron, and a cyber intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance squadron. Additionally, she deployed to Bogota, Colombia and Ali Al Salem in Kuwait.
